Dorset Age Concern Groups

There are 15 Age Concerns located across Dorset which provide a wide range of activities and services for older people. Age Concerns are located in the larger towns of Bournemouth, Dorchester, Poole and Weymouth and in the smaller towns and villages of Christchurch, Beaminster, Blandford Forum, Bridport, Ferndown, Lytchett Minster & Upton, Shaftesbury & Gillingham, Sturminster Newton, Verwood, Wareham and Wimborne.

All Age Concerns are independent charities. Although they are engaged in a variety of different services and activities, they all share the same aim of ‘promoting the well being of all older people to make later life an enjoyable and fulfilling experience’.

Within Dorset, the 15 Age Concerns are divided in to 3 clusters, the North, East and South & West. Representatives from each cluster meet regularly with the purpose of strengthening links, ensuring greater co-ordination and cohesion between the groups and providing mutual support. Similarly all the cluster groups have an opportunity to get together twice a year to share issues and concerns and to discuss new developments and campaigns emanating from Age Concern England.
