Blandford Forum goes live

Blandford Area FiftyplusAn independent ACTION Forum for the over 50s in Blandford Forum and the surrounding villages. For more information, a committee member can be contacted by calling 079755 528135.

Blandford Area Fiftyplus is a new and emerging independent ACTION Forum for people over the age of fifty living in Blandford Forum and the surrounding villages. A group of local volunteers has come together to guide its development, initially through a steering group, and then through an elected management committee.

The provision of regular Fiftyplus meetings will provide opportunities for people to have their say on issues that concern them and look at constructive ways to combat difficulties; receive information about services and developments; work together with other such Forums and local organisations to improve quality of life.

As a member of the Dorset Association of Senior Forums, Fiftyplus is one of sixteen Forums in Dorset working to influence the planning and delivery of local services. Surrounding villages include:

  • Belchalwell,
  • Blandford St Mary,
  • Charlton Marshal,
  • Chettle,
  • Durweston,
  • Hilton,
  • Milton Abbas,
  • Milborne St Andrew,
  • Pimperne ,
  • Shillingstone,
  • Spetisbury,
  • Stourpaine,
  • the ‘Tarrants’ and the ‘Winterbornes’.

Our Aims:

  • To provide a regular open forum for residents aged fifty and above, to encourage them to have their say on issues that concern them and have those concerns considered by Fiftyplus for possible further action.
  • To draw on the experiences and abilities of residents over the age of 50 for the benefit of their communities representing the collective views of the membership, influencing local, regional and national decision makers.
  • To be an independent, democratic, non-party political, non-profit making Forum, promoting the involvement, empowerment and improvement of quality of life of all fiftyplus residents and their communities.
  • To work in partnership with other relevant organisations and encourage social contact through the Forum format.To provide Fiftyplus members with current information about local regional and national activities and services.
  • To welcome participation of all members regardless of disability, ethnicity, gender, sexuality or religious beliefs.
