Dorchester Introduction
The 55 Forum was established in June 2004. As an independent group for people over 55 years, it has no political affiliation and aims to give local people the opportunity to express their views on both local and national issues of concern. Quarterly meetings are held in the Holy Trinity Parish Centre, Culliford Road North, Dorchester and a regular newsletter is produced.
The forum has an elected committee of volunteers who meet monthly and is a member of the South West Regional Network of Forums; the Dorchester Area Community Partnership; the Senior Forums’ Association (South & West Dorset); the Dorset Age Partnership; the Dorset POPP Steering Group and Board.
Forum activities include:
- Open meetings with speakers
- Discussion opportunities
- Persuing local issues with follow-up action when necessary
- Co-operating with other local Forums on items of common interest
- Campaining on national issues
- Newsletters.
