Sherborne Forum

Sherborne District Senior Citizens Group is an established independent, non-party political, group open to local people generally over the age of 50 years.

The group was launched in September 2006. Through the provision of a quarterly open forum meeting, local older people have the opportunity to express their views on both local and national issues of concern.

The group also co-host a quarterly meeting with the Sherborne Area Partnership for organisations who provide services for older people within the Sherborne area.

Our Aims:

  • To promote the involvement, empowerment and improvement of quality of life for all persons in the Sherborne District generally over the age of 50 years.
  • To provide a regular open forum for older residents, to encourage them to have their say on issues that concern them and have those concerns considered by the Group for possible further action.
  • To make representation of our collective views to influence decision makers.
  • To provide members with current information from local and national service providers.
  • To encourage social contact through the forum format.
  • To welcome participation of all members regardless of their disability, ethnicity, gender or sexuality.
