Verwood Introduction
What is the Verwood Area Fiftyplus Forum?
The Forum is a new and emerging independent ACTION forum for people over the age of fifty living in Verwood and the surrounding villages.
A group of local volunteers have come together to guide its development, initially through a steering group, then through a management committee. The provision of an open forum meeting will provide local older people with the opportunity to express their views on local, county and national issues; look at constructive ways to combat difficulties; receive information about developments and opportunities to get involved; work together with other senior forums and local organisations to improve quality of life.
As a member of the Dorset Association of Senior Forums this forum is one of 16 such fiftyplus forums in Dorset working to influence the planning and delivery of local services.
Our Aims:
- To promote the involvement and improvement of quality of life for people living in Verwood the surrounding villages who are over the age of 50.
- To provide a regular meeting, to encourage members to have their say on issues that concern them and have those concerns considered to take possible further action.
- To provide members with current information from local and national service providers.
- To work closely in partnership with other organisations and service providers who have an interest in supporting older people.
- To encourage social contact and have fun!
- To be an independent, democratic, non-party political and non-profit making organisation.
