Tripping over Thomas Hardy

I came to live in Dorchester in 1926 when I was three years old.
Soon after my family moved to Dorchester, I was in the Borough Gardens. I ran up the slope near the bowling green, ran down again and tripped over at the feet of Thomas Hardy. Thomas Hardy picked me up. Later my mother told me that he was a famous author and poet.
