Dorchester has never had it so clean!
Peter Wood writes...
On 26 February 1977 a team of archaeologists began uncovering a massive Roman baths complex under Wollaston Field.
In the next few months they unearthed the remains of a vast bath house covering 30,000 sq ft with a sauna suite of hot, medium and cold rooms as well as walls and mosaics.
It was an amazing site and fascinated Dorchester people for many weeks. Dorchester has never had it so clean!
Sadly it was in filled with sand and tarmaced to become the car park behind Social Services.
