Launch of Sturminster Newton and District Over 50s Forum
A new ACTION Forum for people aged 50 and over will be launched on Saturday, 10th April. Sturminster Newton & District Over 50s Forum will start life at the Exchange in Old Market Hill with a launch event running from 11am to 2pm. Anybody who is interested in, or curious about, the Forum is welcome to come along. People living in the surrounding villages will be particularly welcomed. Entry is FREE!
The official launch of the Forum takes place at 11.30am. There will be opportunities for people to give their views on ‘Life in Sturminster Newton Past & Present’; information and displays from local organisations; a FREE raffle and door prize draw plus a FREE ploughmans buffet. Come along and find out what this new Forum is all about!
This Forum has been funded by POPP, the Partnership for Older People Project. POPP Wayfinders and Leaders will be attending the event. They will be able to ‘signpost’ people to services that may be of benefit.
Sturminster Newton & District Over 50s Forum will join a family of 16 such Fiftyplus Forums across Dorset and supported by Age Concern. Fiftyplus Forums work to influence the planning and delivery of local services by providing opportunities for the over 50s to have their say on issues that concern them, looking for constructive ways to combat difficulties. They also provide information about services and developments, while working together to improve quality of life and have fun! All of the Forums are run by local over 50s volunteers.
