Age Concern Dorchester - Wayfinders
Wayfinders point people in the right direction
Wayfinders Introduction
The Wayfinder project is part of POPP (Partnership for Older People Project) which involves older people, voluntary organisations, Dorset County Council, the local district and borough councils, the NHS and housing authorities. Are you a local older person and need information about local services relating to health, social activities and general wellbeing? The purpose is to help keep older people living within their communities for as long as they wish by providing opportunities, activities , information and signposting at a local level.
A Wayfinder is an individual working within the POPP project for 9 hours a week, whose role is to make contact with older people to provide local information and signposting to anyone who is 50 years or older living in Dorset.
There are almost 100 staff and volunteers involved in the project. This team is coordinated from our offices in Dorchester keeping our wayfinders in touch with people and managing the day-to-day affairs of the project.
